A woman in Newfane, New York, has been charged with texting while driving in an accident that caused the death of a bicyclist, according to police.
Officers charged 25-year-old Alicia Westgate with reckless operation of a vehicle, use of an electronic device while driving and failure to exercise due care in connection with an accident on July 16 that killed 68-year-old Richard Webb.
Webb was an avid bicyclist riding on a road in the town of Burt in Niagara County, when he was struck from behind by Westgate's vehicle.
